    Great 4 and 5 blade refills, 3 blade not so much

    I fortunately bought the trial pack of 3-, 4-, and 5- blade refills, along with the metal and plastic handles. Since I was coming from 2 decades of Gillette Mach 3 with the metal handle, I thought I would prefer the metal handle and 3-blade refills the best. Boy was I wrong! I thought the metal handle was way too heavy, causing an uncomfortable shave for me, but more importantly, the 3-blade refill really cut up my face! I did compare with the Mach 3, and the Patriot blades were farther apart, so not identical. Maybe it was just a bad blade anomaly (happened occasionally even with Mach 3), but for whatever reason, the 4- and 5- blade refills did not cut me at all, and gave a superior shave, with the 5- being slightly better. I was worried about blade clogging, and maybe it does but I can’t detect a problem.

    I had also bought 12 additional 3- blade refills in anticipation of preferring those, so I contacted the company to see what they could do to help. They were fantastic, and paid for shipping both ways to exchange the unused blades! They also included their new mid-weight handle, which I look forward to trying.
    As a point of reference, my old metal Mach 3 handle weighs 1.25oz, and the Patriot plastic handle weighs 0.65oz. The Patriot metal handles weigh 1.65oz for their midweight, and 2.15oz for their original heavier handle.

    Overall great customer service and good products (except for the 3-blade for my face). I HIGHLY recommend purchasing their sample blade pack to start with!
